Songs Produced by CORTIS for Other Artists

Calling a group self-producing is easy. Having your name in the credits of somebody else’s title track is the part that cannot be marketing.

This is every song CORTIS have written or produced for artists outside the group, member by member. Some of these are songs you already know by heart without knowing they had anything to do with them.

Martin Is On Almost All Of It

Seven credits across four different groups, and on four of them he is credited as producer and not only as a writer. Magnetic was the title track of ILLIT’s debut, released 25 March 2024 on SUPER REAL ME. Deja Vu came a week later, on 1 April 2024, as the title track of TXT’s sixth mini album minisode 3: TOMORROW. Two title tracks, two different groups, eight days apart, and he was a teenager.

James being credited on Magnetic for writing and choreography is its own small story. Not many people are handed both jobs on the same song.

And Outside by ENHYPEN turning up here made me laugh, because I had already put that song on the songs like Fashion list without knowing Martin had written on it. The taste tracks back to the same person.

GoodBoy Is A Different Kind Of Credit

This one works differently from everything else on the page, and the difference matters.

CORTIS made GoodBoy at a song camp in Los Angeles before they debuted. It was one of around three hundred songs they wrote while building material for their own debut album. It did not make the final cut, and it was later released by &TEAM instead.

So GoodBoy is a CORTIS song that ended up somewhere else. Deja Vu and Magnetic are not. For those, CORTIS were brought into the room specifically to work on songs meant for TXT and for ILLIT from the start. They were invited because of what they can do as writers and producers, and the songs were built for those artists from the first day.

Both things are impressive. They are just not the same thing, and the internet keeps flattening them into one.

Three Hundred Songs

Sit with that number for a second. Three hundred songs written for one debut album, by a group that had not debuted yet, at an age when most people are still deciding what they want to do. GoodBoy was good enough that another HYBE group released it, and it still was not good enough to make their own record.
